Training

The Institute offers three training sessions for WordPress.

Quick Start WordPress Training

ITS offers a Quick Start WordPress training class. This training is designed for working with the UTIA WordPress theme and is a “hands-on” training, delivered via video, through K@TE or if a student, Canvas. Participants are given a tour of the WordPress environment and have their own page in the WordPress training site to edit and add block elements. When training is completed, a user should be familiar with the WordPress Dashboard and understand the concept of using blocks to build and edit pages. Concentrated attention will be with the WordPress blocks and the custom UTIA blocks. A user will also learn how to log in and out, add to the navigation and manage their profile page.

Training is 2.5 hours and participants receive a 2.5-hour training credit.

To register for training, complete the Request for Training form to get training assigned.

Advanced WordPress Training

ITS offers WordPress training to include an Advanced class. The Advanced WordPress Training is designed for working with the more advanced features in the UTIA WordPress theme and is a “hands-on” training delivered via video, through K@TE or if a student, Canvas. Advanced WordPress Training builds on what was covered in the Quick Start Training session. Participants have their own page in the WordPress training site to edit and add block elements. When training is completed, the user should be familiar with most of the available blocks offered in our WordPress instance.

Training is 3 hours and participants receive a 3-hour training credit.

WordPress Power Hour

Besides hands-on training sessions, ITS also offers quarterly WordPress Power Hour sessions. These sessions are one hour long and delivered by Zoom. The WordPress Power Hour concentrates on one or two pre-determined topics of discussion along with general UTIA WordPress updates and discussion. Content managers are sent notice of when these events are going to take place, along with a calendar invite. A calendar of upcoming events and a listing of past sessions and topics is available by visiting the WordPress Power Hour Page:
